Canyonite Sky Laboratory Point System

Scoring and Grade Assignment

Each Canyonite grade is determined by point-based laboratory assessment (0–30 pts) evaluating inclusions, color, and translucency. See grading details below.

CS5

Museum Grade

27–30 pts — Exceptional inclusions, vivid celestial coloration, and luminous translucency. Near-perfect matrix harmony.

Ideal for museums, elite collections, and exhibitions.

CS4

Collector Grade

23–26 pts — Strong inclusions, vibrant color saturation, balanced translucency, and excellent structural coherence.

Suitable for private collections and high-end jewelry.

CS3

Gem Grade

18–22 pts — Visible inclusions, moderate color intensity, and a sub-translucent glow; minor irregularities accepted.

Perfect for fine gemstone jewelry.

CS2

Holistic Grade

13–17 pts — Soft inclusions, muted sky coloration, limited translucency; grounding and stable aesthetic.

Used for ornamental and spiritual pieces.

CS1

Foundational Grade

0–12 pts — Minimal inclusions or color, fully opaque, raw elemental matrix.

Best for study, lapidary, or educational purposes.

Attribute Breakdown

Laboratory Evaluation Criteria

Each attribute is scored independently; combined totals determine final classification.

Mineral Inclusions

(0–10 pts)

  • 9–10: Abundant, sharply defined, rare mineral inclusions
  • 7–8: Strong, well-distributed inclusions
  • 5–6: Moderate inclusions, visible under magnification
  • 3–4: Sparse inclusions, faint mineral presence
  • 0–2: Indistinct or matrix-dominant

Color in Inclusions

(0–10 pts)

  • 9–10: Exceptional vibrancy — vivid electric blues or teals
  • 7–8: Strong intensity, balanced tone
  • 5–6: Moderate saturation
  • 3–4: Faint coloration
  • 0–2: Minimal color expression

Translucency

(0–10 pts)

  • 9–10: Semi-transparent; radiant internal glow
  • 7–8: Moderate translucency
  • 5–6: Partial light penetration
  • 3–4: Mostly opaque, light near edges
  • 0–2: Fully opaque

Canyonite Material Disclaimer

Each Canyonite specimen is naturally unique. Formed within a complex quartz–chalcedony–silica vein system, copper-silicate mineral presence varies from piece to piece due to oxidation and supergene mineralization. Not every cabochon or sample will display all rare minerals. This natural diversity makes Canyonite scientifically rare and visually one-of-a-kind. All specimens are authenticated by mineralogical analysis, though inclusions and visible color may vary across deposits.

Thank you for valuing the natural geological integrity of Canyonite.
