Our Story
Copper Canyon Lapidary was founded from a love of lapidary work and a desire to share beautiful stones with the world. Our story intertwines with ColorWright.com, a trusted source for rock cutters and gem enthusiasts since 1996. When founder Rob Kulakofsky retired in 2018, he passed the torch to Mike and Courtenay Beck, who brought the business to Sedona and began blending it with Copper Canyon Lapidary.
Today, our small but dedicated team keeps the legacy alive:
- Mike Beck runs our cutting shop, specializing in custom sculptures and cabochons.
- Courtenay Beck helps with sales, managing the office and daily operations.
- Kyle Smith works alongside Mike in the lapidary shop, cutting and polishing stone.
- Sharon Smith captures the beauty of our inventory through photography.
- Laif Beck and Matt, our newest lapidary apprentice also assist in providing custom lapidary services.
Rooted in Sedona
Surrounded by Sedona’s breathtaking red rock landscapes, we are inspired daily by the natural beauty and energy of this land. Known worldwide for its vortex sites, Sedona is considered a place of healing,
balance, and transformation. We believe this energy infuses the stones we cut, the specimens we share, and the community we serve.
